Maintenance Technician - Commercial Office Buildings

Lombard, IL 60148 | Full-Time

Post Date: 06/12/2018 Job ID: CMT - 148 Industry: Maintenance Pay Rate: $25 - $35 per hour, based on experience

A well established property management group is in need of an HVAC and building maintenance technician to join their staff. Working with 5 other maintenance professionals, the new maintenance mechanic will be responsible for maintaining several mid sized office buildings in the western suburbs of Chicago. This is a full-time, permanent position and will include HVAC related projects, minor electrical work, plumbing, and unit turnover related activities.

HVAC units are located on the building roof, so candidates should be comfortable working both inside and outside in the weather. Units range in size from 1 to 75 tons. Other projects may include preventative maintenance on building systems, repair / replace of worn building items (electrical switches, plumbing fixtures, etc.), and participating in larger scale projects.

Tools and a company vehicle will be provided. The schedule will mostly consist of a 7:00 a.m. -- 3:30 p.m. weekly schedule with the understanding that there will be times when overtime will be required based on the amount of work available.

The starting pay rate will be based on experience, but will likely fall between $25.00 - $35.00 per hour. There is a comprehensive benefits package that will be shared before an offer is made.

Candidates are required to have at least 5 years of similar maintenance experience in a commercial office environment. Previous HVAC certification and/or CFC refrigerant certifications are also required, and any other formal training (i.e. electrical) will be looked at favorably.

Candidates with less than 5 years of on-the-job experience will be considered, if an associate's degree from a technical school or other certifications have been earned.

The HVAC & building maintenance technician will come into regular contact with tenants, so communication skills will be important. Keeping track of basic paperwork (work orders) related to maintenance projects will also be required.
